Marites Club Privacy Policy
Effective date: 30 October 2026. Operator: Aleksei Timofeev, Philippines. Contact: support@maritesclub.com.
Marites Club is the new name of Around. Existing accounts, chats and coin balances continue unchanged.
About Marites Club
Marites Club is an 18+ social application with public country, region and city chats, private messages, profiles and friendships. This policy covers the Android and iPhone applications, the web version and the Marites Club server.
Data we process
- Account identifiers: the identifier supplied by Google sign-in, an internal account ID, your chosen name and username. Google's sign-in SDK also processes basic profile and email information. Marites Club does not request your Google password or access to Gmail, contacts or Drive. On iPhone you can use Sign in with Apple instead: we store the account identifier supplied by Apple and a revocable Apple sign-in token, kept only so that deleting your account also disconnects Marites Club from your Apple ID. We do not store your Apple email address or name. On the website you can also sign in with Facebook (Facebook Login, provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited), asking only for your public profile: the server uses the sign-in token Facebook gives the website once, to confirm with Facebook which account signed in, and stores only the user ID Facebook issues for Marites Club. We do not store your Facebook name or profile picture, we do not request your Facebook password, email address, friends or posts, and Marites Club never posts to Facebook. When Facebook sign-in is offered, the website's sign-in page loads Meta's Facebook Login script, so Meta receives technical data about that visit (such as IP address and browser details) under its own terms.
- Profile information: age, nationality (the country you choose at registration; members who registered before this step have the country of the place they chose), the place you live in, which you choose yourself under “Lives in” (a city, an island or the country) and which other members see; separately, the place of your feed (the city found from your location when you allow it), which is not shown to other members and is used to suggest a “Lives in” place, to invite you to Chat now conversations nearby and to choose the default translation language, and gender and a profile photo required by current registration, and optional short status, biography and interests. You may also choose to share relationship status, height, alcohol and smoking preferences, education and information about children. All these optional answers can be removed by choosing “Do not specify”. Your profile and public chat contributions are visible to other permitted members.
- Communication: public and private messages, photos, videos or audio recordings you choose to upload, delivery/read state, friendships, blocks and profile visits, Meet card settings, likes and matches.
- App settings and activity: translation preferences, notification preferences, privacy choices (whether other members see that you are online, who can message you), coin balances and transactions (including store purchase records described below), invitations, activity-reward progress, reports, moderation decisions and acceptance of community rules.
- Operational data: login sessions, device notification tokens, request timestamps and network/IP information used to deliver and protect the service. Our Google SDKs also process installation identifiers, device/app information, usage and diagnostics as described below.
Why we use data
We use data to create and secure accounts, deliver chats and notifications, connect members, translate messages, operate rewards, respond to reports and deletion requests, and prevent spam, fraud and abuse, and to learn which of our own ads bring new members. Marites Club shows no ads inside the app and does not sell personal information.
Coin purchases
Coins are an in-app feature with no cash value. Most coins are earned inside the app. Where coin packs are offered for sale, they are sold only through the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android. The store takes the payment: Marites Club never receives your card or billing details. To credit the coins and prevent fraud we receive and keep the store's transaction identifier, the pack bought, the time and whether it was a test purchase, linked to your account. Refunds are handled by the store under its rules; coins from a refunded purchase can be removed.
Permissions and optional features
The camera is used when you choose to take a photo or record a video. The microphone is used when you record a voice message or video. Selected photos and videos are uploaded only when you choose them for a profile or message. We store the attachment source (gallery, camera or microphone) to label it in the conversation. This label describes the attachment action and does not verify authenticity. Notification permission is optional. The first time you open the feed (in earlier builds, the first time you tap Detect automatically), the app asks for location access while it is in use, to open the chat of your city; after that, whenever you open a place selector (in chats or people search), Marites Club suggests nearby places by itself. Each time, coordinates rounded to about 100 metres are sent to our server to look up nearby places in our geography directory, processed only for that request and not saved; the city found when the feed first opens is stored as the place of your feed, which other members do not see; your profile shows only the place you choose yourself. No background tracking occurs. Location access is optional and can be switched off in your phone settings; without it the feed shows the country's chat, and you can always select a place manually. Marites Club does not request your address book. You may decline camera and microphone permissions and upload a gallery photo instead. A profile photo is required to complete new registration.
Bug reports
When you submit a bug report, we store your description, account reference, app version, platform and screen name so our team can investigate and reply. Technical media-failure reports are also created automatically with the operation stage, media type/source, enumerated error code, app version and platform. They do not include message text, media content, passwords or login tokens. Private chats and photos are not attached automatically. Reports are visible only to their author and authorized administrators. Bug reports are removed when you delete your account; operational backup retention still applies.
Automatic error reports
When the app, the website or the server runs into an unexpected error, a technical report about it is sent to Sentry, the error-monitoring service we use (Functional Software, Inc.); reports are stored in Sentry's European Union region. A report contains the error type and message, the place in the program code where it happened, the app version and build, the platform and technical details of the device (such as model, operating-system version, language, time zone, free memory and battery level), and the screens and server requests just before the error, with account and message identifiers removed from addresses. A report can include a random installation identifier created by the reporting library, but not your name, username, email address, Marites Club account identifier, message text, photos or other media, passwords or sign-in tokens; Sentry is set not to store IP addresses. Reports are used only to find and fix errors and are kept under Sentry's retention rules; see the Sentry Privacy Policy.
Advertising measurement
We advertise Marites Club on Facebook, Instagram, Google and TikTok. To learn which ads bring new members, the Android app always does two things. When you create an account, it sends us the Google Play install referrer: the campaign labels of the link the app was installed from (for example utm_source=facebook), which we keep with your account. The Android app also includes the Meta (Facebook) SDK, provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. It tells Meta that the app was installed and opened and that an account was created, together with your device's advertising ID, the app version, technical details of the device (such as model, operating-system version, language and time zone) and network/IP information. It does not send your name, username, email address, Marites Club account identifier, messages, photos or other media, or your location. Meta uses this data to measure and improve our ads and processes it under its own terms; see the Meta Privacy Policy. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization, in your phone's settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads). The iPhone app and the website do not include the Meta SDK; the website loads Meta's Facebook Login script only for signing in with Facebook (see above).
When we advertise Marites Club with Google Ads, the Android app may also include Google Analytics for Firebase (Google LLC), so that Google can tell which installations came from our ads and whether they led to a new account, a first message or a purchase. When it is included and analytics is on for your account, it collects an app-instance identifier, the Android advertising ID, the device model, the operating system and its version, the app version, when the app was first opened and its sessions, purchases made through Google Play, and the events of creating an account and sending a first message; never message text, photos or other media, the person you talk to, your name, username, email address or phone number. This data is sent to Google and used only to measure and improve our advertising. If you ask us at support@maritesclub.com to stop analytics for your account, this measurement stops too and its data on your device is cleared. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. The iPhone app and the website do not include Firebase Analytics.
When we advertise Marites Club on TikTok, the Android app may also include the TikTok App Events SDK, provided by TikTok (for users in the Philippines, TikTok Pte. Ltd.). When it is included, it tells TikTok that the app was installed and opened, whether it was opened again the next day, and that an account was created, together with your device's advertising ID, the app version, technical details of the device (such as model, operating-system version, language and time zone) and network/IP information. It does not send your name, username, email address, phone number, Marites Club account identifier, messages, photos or other media, your purchases or your location. TikTok uses this data to measure and improve our ads and processes it under its own terms; see the TikTok For Business Privacy Policy. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. The iPhone app and the website do not include the TikTok SDK.
Product analytics
To understand how Marites Club is used and to improve it, the Marites Club server records what members do in the service and sends these events to PostHog, the product-analytics service we use (PostHog Inc.), which stores them for us in its European Union region (Frankfurt, Germany). An event says what happened and when: for example that an account was created or completed with a photo, that the app or the website was used on a given day, that a message was sent in a public or a private chat, that a Chat now search or conversation started or ended, a like, a match, a friend request, a gift, a coin purchase or a VIP membership. It carries the platform and app build and a few details of the action, such as the kind of message, the level of the chat, the price of a gift, how long a search or conversation lasted and how many messages you sent in it. To count members who return, events are linked to your internal Marites Club account identifier, and PostHog also keeps your gender, age range, province and country, whether you have VIP and when you joined. The Android and iPhone apps and the website also record which screens are opened and when the app is opened, brought back or put in the background, with the session, a random identifier of the installation or browser, the device type, the operating system and its version, the language, the time zone and the app version; these events go through the Marites Club server to PostHog and are linked to your account once you sign in. Events never contain message text, photos or other media, the identity of the person you talk to, your name, username, email address, phone number or exact location; PostHog is set not to store IP addresses and not to determine location from them. Analytics data is used only for statistics about the service, such as how many members are active, how many return and which features work; it is not used for advertising and not sold. It is kept for one year. When you delete your account, your analytics data is deleted from PostHog as well. You can ask us at support@maritesclub.com to stop analytics for your account: we then stop recording events about it and delete the data already collected. See the PostHog Privacy Policy.
Who receives data
Public content and profiles are shared with other members according to app access rules. Private messages are accessible to their participants; reporting a message shares an evidence copy with moderators. Authorized operators may access service data to maintain the service or investigate abuse. Private messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Completed browser translations are stored on the Marites Club server per message and language. On phones, completed translations are cached locally in app-private storage and are not uploaded from the phone. Cached results are removed when the app learns a message has been deleted or access has been revoked; expired results are not shown. Signing out clears the phone translation cache.
Apple provides Sign in with Apple and the Apple Push Notification service for iPhone notifications. Google provides sign-in and Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android notifications. Meta provides Facebook Login on the website. Push requests include delivery identifiers and a generic notification, not message text or media. ML Kit translates text on the phone and does not send translation input or output to Google. ML Kit and its Firebase components do collect technical data, including installation identifiers, app/device details, performance/error events and language settings. These SDKs use HTTPS. See ML Kit disclosures, Firebase disclosures and Google Privacy Policy.
The Marites Club backend and encrypted backups are hosted on infrastructure used by the operator. Processing by the operator and service providers may take place outside your country. Browser translation sends the requested message text to the operator's server-hosted translation model and stores the result. Native phone translation of private messages remains on-device; a public chat message in a language the phone cannot translate (for example Cebuano), and a public chat message translated in the browser, is sent for translation to Google Cloud Translation (only the message text, without who wrote it); private messages in the browser use the operator's server-hosted model.
Public chat moderation
Before a new public text message can appear, it must pass an automatic check or moderator review. For this check only the text of the public message is sent to a third-party AI moderation service, the OpenAI Moderation API; we do not add profile identifiers. You agree to this check when you accept the community rules at registration. The text itself may contain personal data. A new profile photo is public, so it is also checked automatically before it is shown: the image alone, without profile identifiers, is sent to the same provider, OpenAI, which looks for sexual content, violence and self-harm and checks that the photo shows a person. A photo with prohibited content, or without a person (for example an object, an animal, a landscape or a close-up of a body part), is not accepted; you can choose another one. Private messages and their attachments are not sent to this service. A first text message to a person who has not written to you and is not your friend passes a word filter on our own server. Photos and videos from a person you have not replied to arrive covered in the app, and you choose whether to view them. Public chats currently accept text only. A message that is flagged is not published; only its author sees a notice and can edit and send it again. If the check cannot complete, the message is not published and can be retried. Contact support to appeal a decision.
Pending review content expires after 30 days; automatic approval caches expire after five minutes and manual decisions after 24 hours. Expired review rows are cleared during periodic cleanup, and account deletion clears that account's review rows. Minimal decision audit records and backups follow the retention rules below. Provider processing follows OpenAI data controls.
Chat now conversations
Chat now (Android and web) connects you with another adult member who is looking for a conversation at the same moment. The conversation is anonymous: each of you sees only the other's gender and a temporary nickname generated for that conversation; your nickname, photo, age, city and profile stay hidden. If both of you agree to continue, your Marites Club profiles are shown to each other and the conversation is saved in Messages; otherwise, when the conversation ends, the anonymous messages are hidden from both of you and deleted 24 hours later, so that either of you can still report the other; a report keeps the whole anonymous conversation as evidence. Email and Google or Apple account details are never shown. Chat now carries text messages, photos, videos, voice messages and gifts. Like private messages, they are not scanned automatically; moderators see a conversation only when one of you reports the other. Photos, videos and voice messages follow the same rules as the text: hidden when the conversation ends and deleted 24 hours later, or kept as report evidence. You can move to the next person, block or report your partner at any time, also right after the conversation; a person you reported is not matched with you again. The iOS app does not offer Chat now.
Meet (people cards)
Meet shows adult members’ cards to each other so that they can like or pass. Every member with a profile photo and a date of birth has a card, shown to other adult members in Meet; it carries only what your profile already shows to members. You can block or report anyone, and deleting your account removes your card. The card carries your profile photo, nickname, age, city, what you are looking for and the first line of your About. The date of birth itself is never shown, only the age counted from it; it is entered once and changed only through support. Likes, passes, hidden cards and reports are recorded with their time: a like expires after 30 days, a pass after 14 days, a hidden or reported card does not come back. The people whose likes you have not answered are shown to you only with a VIP membership and never with the time of the like; everyone sees how many people liked them. A mutual like creates a match that both of you see in Meet and in Messages; either of you can block or report the other at any time. The deck never uses anonymous Chat now conversations: nothing from them affects whose cards you see, and after an anonymous conversation the two of you are not shown to each other for a day. The place and age filters apply with a VIP membership. Deleting your account removes the card settings, likes, matches and deck records; report evidence follows the rules below.
Storage and deletion
Profiles and ordinary messages remain until deleted through available app controls or account deletion. When either of you deletes a private chat, it disappears from Messages for both of you; its messages are no longer shown to either of you but are kept, like other messages, until either account is deleted, so that moderators can still review a report about the conversation. When you delete one of your public chat messages, it disappears for everyone at once; its text is kept for 30 days, visible only to moderators, so that a report about it can still be reviewed, and is removed sooner if you delete your account. Disappearing message content becomes inaccessible at its expiry time and is cleared by periodic cleanup. Profile-visit history is cleared after 90 days; unreferenced uploads become eligible for cleanup after one hour. Media preserved for a report is released from that hold after 90 days. Recipients can save or screenshot content before deletion.
Deleting your account revokes sessions and notification tokens, revokes the Apple sign-in token if you used Sign in with Apple, removes your profile from member access and clears its identifying profile fields, clears message content in conversations involving your account, removes relationships and deletes your uploaded media except preserved report evidence. Minimal account/provider identifiers, coin/referral records, message routing metadata, rule acceptance and moderation records can remain for preventing repeated signup rewards, fraud, abuse and reviewing decisions. They are not displayed as an active profile. These service records do not currently have a fixed automatic deletion deadline; they are retained for those stated security and recordkeeping purposes. Report evidence may still include previously reported personal content.
Scheduled encrypted operational backups rotate over a 30-day retention window. Manually retained recovery or incident copies may be kept longer and must be reviewed when handling a deletion request. Deleted information can remain in earlier backups until rotation; any recovery must reapply recorded deletion requests before normal service resumes. Provider SDK data follows the providers' retention rules.
Your choices and requests
You can edit your profile, change translation and notification preferences, block members and delete your account in Settings. In Settings → Privacy you choose whether other members see when you are online and the gifts you have received; your profile shows only which gifts you received and how many, never who sent them, and a note sent with a gift is a private message to you. You can also request account deletion without reinstalling the app using our account deletion page. Contact support@maritesclub.com for questions or requests about your data; we will verify ownership before disclosing or deleting account data. We may retain information needed to address a specific legal or security obligation and explain the reason when applicable.
Children and policy updates
Marites Club is for adults aged 18 and over. Report suspected underage accounts or child-safety concerns using in-app reporting or support@maritesclub.com. See our child-safety standards. Material changes to this policy will be published here with a revised effective date.
